The global leadership team from The Travel Corporation (TTC), one of the largest privately owned travel companies in the world, spent five days in Saas-Fee. One reason for this fact-finding trip was the diverse range of sustainable travel offers in Switzerland as a result of the Swisstainable sustainability campaign launched in 2021. The partnership between Switzerland Tourism (ST) and TTC means that Swisstainable offers are visible and bookable worldwide.

ST aims to intensify the marketing of sustainable travel options in Switzerland with globally active travel companies. Backed by the Swisstainable sustainability campaign, in 2022 ST was able to enter a partnership with TTC to the mutual benefit of both parties: ST’s sustainable travel options help TTC achieve its self-imposed sustainability target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 across the entire value chain. TTC, in turn, brings a potential of around 1.9 million guests, is active in 70 countries, and owns and operates 40 brands. This makes the travel company the ideal multiplier to make Switzerland’s diverse range of sustainable travel offers visible and bookable worldwide.

TTC on Swisstainable fact-finding trip in Saas-Fee

TTC’s global leadership team spent five days in Saas-Fee, to discuss future strategy and learn more about the Swisstainable movement and the offerings that have emerged from it. “Advancing the sustainability agenda, which we recognize as critical, will be successful only when destinations and industry work towards a shared vision of positive impact. This is precisely what our partnership with Switzerland Tourism means to TTC: it’s a model of progress”, says Shannon Guihan, The Travel Corporation Chief Sustainability Officer & Head of TreadRight.

Important cooperation in the Key markets

For historical reasons, TTC has a very broad-based presence and is active in Australia. In addition, TTC is active in many other ST markets, both in Europe and overseas (Asia and North America). “The Key Account Management, i.e., the cultivation and contact with tour operators, is an important part of ST’s work in the markets”, explains Livio Goetz, ST Market Manager ANZ. “This way, we can ensure that the holiday destination Switzerland is included in the programme by the tour operators. Working with a strong and established player like TTC in the Australian and New Zealand market means we can reach thousands of potential guests with our sustainable travel options in one fell swoop”.

The available Swisstainable travel packages were aimed primarily at individual travellers and small groups, but also organisers of incentive travel. Through this partnership, ST and TTC are encouraging all Swiss tourism providers to get involved in the Swisstainable programme and become part of TTC’s product range. By the end of 2022, 35% of the Swiss service providers in TTC’s portfolio already participated in the programme.
