Updated: 20/01/2022

From Saturday, 22 January, persons who have been vaccinated or who have recovered from COVID-19 will no longer be required to present a negative PCR or rapid antigen test before entering Switzerland.

Persons who are not vaccinated or who have not recovered from COVID-19 will still have to take the tests to enter the country.
However, due to limited testing capacity, travellers will no longer be required to take follow-up tests four to seven days after arriving, meaning that the ‘3G’ rule applies to enter Switzerland.

Entry form required for everyone older than 15 years, travelling to Switzerland by plane or on a long-distance bus service.
The entry form can be completed at the earliest 48h before entry on swissplf.admin.ch..
When filling in the form, the address where you stay in Switzerland and your passport number must be stated. Travelers flying to Switzerland must also provide their seat number, that could be added later.
A document with QR code is emailed immediately after completion of the form that might be requested to show during the stay in Switzerland, on paper or smartphone.
You must carry your QR code document with you at all times.

Children/Adolescents under 16 years
Neither vaccination nor negative test result are requested if under 16 and accompanied by a vaccinated or recovered adult – but the child/ren must be added to the entry form filled in by the adult.

Validity of COVID certificate shortened to 270 days
The Federal Council is shortening the validity period of all vaccination certificates from 365 to 270 days from 31 January.

This ensures that the Swiss certificate continues to be recognised in the EU. Certificates issued as proof of recovery from COVID-19 will also be valid for 270 days to enter Switzerland.

The new rules apply to all countries that are not on the list considered as “high risk countries”.
None of the EU countries or the Schengen states are on that list,

However, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the validity of COVID certificates to enter Switzerland differs from the ones that apply to the Covid certificates rules within Switzerland.

Switzerland accepts the following vaccines:
– Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2 / Comirnaty® / Tozinameran)
– Moderna (mRNA-1273 / Spikevax / COVID-19 vaccine Moderna)
– AstraZeneca (AZD1222 Vaxzevria®/ Covishield™)
– Janssen / Johnson & Johnson (Ad26.COV2.S)
– Sinopharm / BIBP (SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine (Vero Cell)
– Sinovac (CoronaVac)
– COVAXIN®

We do not recommend travelling to Switzerland for not vaccinated people as the restrictions in Switzerland for them are relatively strict.

Kindly contact your airline before departure to see if they have any further restrictions.

The easiest way to find out what applies to your customer is to fill in travel details on Travel Check. There you get an immediate answer on the rules applying to their individual situation.
This also applies to guests travelling to Switzerland from a country outside EU / Schengen.

For further information, please check the entry rules on Federal Office of Public Health

Citizens from the Nordic Countries must inquire with their national authorities about remaining restrictions for non-necessary travel abroad before starting their trip.
