Exhilaration Andermatt
Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Alps, in the high-alpine Ursern Valley lies Andermatt. Andermatt has now been connected to two other villages via slopes; gondolas and train; making this the perfect place for any snow enthusiast. Whether it’s your first day on the slopes, or you are really looking to put your experience to the test, the ski area of Andermatt; Sedrun and Disentis has something for everyone. With 180km of slopes between the three villages, there are many different ways to experience these mystical mountains. You could spend the day on Nätschen which is well-suited to beginners; or get your heart pumping on Gemsstock.

Today, Gemsstock mountain in Andermatt has become one of the tops spots in Switzerland for off-piste skiing. Whether it’s the descents, which are up to 1,500 meters in altitude, or the powder snow, freeriders will find everything their heart desires on Gemsstock. The north side of Gemsstock comes highly recommended, as the shade helps to preserve the powder snow and provide some protection from the wind. This mountain is not for the faint of heart, so be sure to get a mountain guide who can take you on the ride of a lifetime. A highlight on Gemmsstock is the renowned Bernhard Russi Run, named after the world famous Olympian, Bernhard Russi. It leads steeply down from the almost 3,000 meter high Gemsstock viewing  peak over the Gurschen glacier to the Gurschen cable car middle station. The slopes are always well prepared so that you can get the full performance out of your racing skis.

A local tip is to end off the day, is by skiing or sledding down to one of the stunning mountain bars or restaurants, where you can enjoy breathtaking views.
