Stay in this picturesque village at an altitude of 1,444 meters, nestled between the mystical mountains – the perfect destination for winter & summer visitors.

Different languages and cultures have always come together here, and people from all over the world have been drawn to the Ursern Valley for centuries. Nestled between peaks and passes, lakes and cliffs, Andermatt is a hub and a node, not only between different cantons and countries but also different cultures. Andermatt is indeed an off-the-beaten-track destination, and by car, it can only be reached via winding pass roads, at the same time just 90 minutes from Zurich and 120 minutes from Milan.

Sustainability is of great importance to the hotel and the region.

The village is located in the heart of the Ursern Valley, meaning from Latin origin the valley of bears. Therefore, Radisson Blu in Andermatt has a partnership with the World Wildlife Fond to create awareness and aid for the habitat of the Polar Bear.

All buildings of the new village part Reuss are built to a MINENERGY status using energy from waterpower. The heating of the hotel is also done by waterpower from the nearby energy hub in Göschenen. The exhaust heat of the hotel is sent to the military of the region and reused. The Responsible Business Program of the Radisson Hotel Group ensures further efforts such as degradable straws and that the carbon offset of every meeting held at a Radisson Hotel is paid for by the company. The chef`s of the hotel source local products from the butcher of the village, honey from the local beekeeper, also they pick their own herbs in the valley. The hotel uses only fair-trade coffee from Lucerne and regional craft beer. To help the local community the visionary owner of the hotel has decided that the local school children can swim in the hotel pool ones a week to reduce the driving time to next pool by 1 hour.

The new village part Reuss is car-free and during the construction the Reuss River was re-naturized. The energy for the ski region comes from wind energy. The glacier is covered with snow to save it in summer, a practice done since many years in Andermatt called Snowfarming. Also, the 18 hole championship golf course has increased the bird variety in the valley due to more breeding ground. From the region around Andermatt 30% of the whole energy used by the SBB national train company in all over Switzerland is produced by waterpower.

Andermatt and sustainability go hand in hand. The region takes great effort in keeping these mountains as beautiful as they are now for the future.
