Where the Mediterranean and the Alpine meet. Thanks to its unspoilt nature, diverse landscape and mild climate, the region on Lake Maggiore is the ideal destination for active holidays. Over 1400 km of hiking trails for hikers and trail runners, MTB trails, cycle paths, rock faces for climbing, the lake and rivers for all kinds of water sports, tennis courts and golf courses as well as paragliding can be practised. Take advantage of the 2,300 hours of sunshine a year to discover the most beautiful corners and breathtaking views.

The excellent trails make Lake Maggiore a unique playground especially for adventurous runners who love being in nature. Crystal-clear mountain lakes, turquoise rivers, thundering waterfalls, green meadows and lush forests. The perfect ambience to switch off from everyday life and recharge your batteries.

The wild nature and steepness make many trails technically challenging. But there are enough possibilities to have fun even without technical knowledge. Those who like to compare themselves with others have plenty of opportunities to do so here. Because, in Ticino, numerous international races take place every year.

After sport, it’s time to give yourself a proper break. Hot thermal baths a stone’s throw from the lake, Finnish sauna and Turkish bath or a relaxing massage to rebalance your mind.

There are also an incredible number of beaches, lidos and bathing spots along the lakeshore or rivers. Lying on the huge sun-kissed rocks and dipping your legs in the water is the best way to relax after a day of adventure in nature.

In Ticino, enjoying a fine meal in good company is a popular way to end the day. Whether in a starred restaurant or a plate of polenta and braised beef at the grotto. The ingredients are sourced from local and domestic produce.
