Claudio Zemp, former Market Director for India at Switzerland Tourism (ST), has been appointed as the new head of the Americas. In addition to his solid international marketing expertise, Claudio Zemp has in-depth experience in marketing strategy as well as in destination promotion in the English-speaking world. He will start in his new position August 1.

Claudio Zemp played a central role in developing the popular campaign featuring ST brand ambassador and Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, which contributed to exceptional growth during his four-year tenure in the Indian market. Before joining ST, Claudio Zemp worked for five years as head of the Switzerland Convention & Incentive Bureau (SCIB) in London. The London School of Marketing alumnus also gained relevant experience over a ten-year period as aviation manager and member of the UK & Ireland executive board of Switzerland Travel Centre (STC). Claudio Zemp will succeed long-time USA market manager and Americas director Alex Herrmann who will transfer at the same time to the UK/Ireland market.

After Germany, the United States is the second most important foreign market for tourism in Switzerland. Over 2.2 million hotel overnights from US guests were registered in 2018 – an impressive 10% increase compared with 2017* – a steady growth has now been recorded over the last few years. In addition to the USA, the region Americas includes Canada and Brazil, markets which generated over 270,000 and 242,000 hotel overnights respectively last year*.
