Individuals Can Send Friends and Family Swiss Postcards Containing Free Ride Codes for Citi Bike, Hubway, Divvy, Ford GoBike, and Bixi Bike Share Systems

(New York, NY): Starting today and running through the end of May, Switzerland Tourism is welcoming the spring season and sponsoring free bike share rides in Motivate-operated systems across North America, including Citi Bike (New York and Jersey City), Hubway (Metro Boston), Divvy (Chicago), Ford GoBike (Bay Area), as well as Bixi (Montreal).

This partnership between Switzerland Tourism and Motivate will give locals and tourists the opportunity to see how convenient, fast and fun cycling can be — for free! Individuals can send friends and family postcards containing free ride codes to use in any of the participating bike share systems in the United States. Each postcard will also enter the sender in a sweepstakes with a trip to Switzerland as the grand prize.  To send postcards and enter the sweepstakes, individuals must visit myswitzerland.com/bikes. In Montreal, Bixi ambassadors will distribute 2 for 1 printed postcards at high traffic Bixi stations on May 4th, 5th, and 7th.

To make this integrated campaign even sweeter, Switzerland Tourism representatives will hand out Swiss chocolate and cheese from custom Motivate tricycles at three different events in each of the participating cities. At these events, residents can learn about Switzerland’s plentiful, well-maintained cycling and mountain biking routes and stunning scenery.

“Switzerland isn’t just about skiing and hiking in the Alps,” said Alex Herrmann, Director North America Switzerland Tourism. “Switzerland offers 5,600 miles of cycling routes and 2,800 miles of mountain biking trails as part of a program called SwitzerlandMobility. Cyclists can also enjoy a group of Swiss hotels specializing in hosting travelers with bicycles. For any bike rider looking for their next vacation, Switzerland’s rolling hills, mighty peaks, and modern cities ought to be at the top of the list.”

“Whether you’re a short-term visitor or longtime resident, bike share is one of the best ways to explore a city,” said Jay Walder, President and CEO of Motivate. “Our coast-to-coast systems have surpassed 100 million rides since Motivate launched in 2010, and we are thrilled to give more people the taste of bike share — and Swiss treats — over the next two months with our partner Switzerland Tourism.”
