SWI swissinfo.ch is the international online medium of the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SBC). It provides information and background from a Swiss perspective in ten languages. The core topics are direct democracy, Swiss foreign policy, cutting-edge research, multinational companies and developments emanating from International Geneva.
The 6th International Valaisan Media Prize is awarded to journalists in recognition of exceptional articles and documentaries on the Swiss alpine canton of Valais. The award is sponsored by Valais/Wallis Promotion. Arti-cles published for the first time between 1st January and 31st December 2013 will be taken into consideration. The winner in each language category will receive CHF 5,000. In addition a special prize will be awarded in the field of TV/film and radio broadcasts. Articles in German, English, Italian and French will be taken into consideration.
Through this award for journalists who are active and published worldwide, Valais Information wishes to bring the tourist facilities, economy and natural beauty of this alpine canton to the public’s attention. “Valais boasts majestic 13’000 feet peaks and many scenic attractions. More im-portantly though, it’s the inhabitants themselves who give our canton its unique face,” says Peter Furger, Director ad interim of Valais/Wallis Promotion. He believes that “Valais will never run out of stories“. Articles must be submitted in PDF format, TV, film or radio entries should be made on CD.
